Hello MINI my old friend.

The new all-electric MINI family is taking shape. And along with the new design language and immersive multimedia experience, we’ve created a brand-new sound aesthetic. Our latest all-electric models have been given their own emotionally compelling palettes of driving sounds, individually tailored to their character.

THE FUTURE SOUNDS FAMILIAR.

Our MINI sound design team dug deep into the MINI archives. And by capturing some of the iconic sounds of an original 1959 Mini and 2006 MINI JCW GP model, they established a new MINI sound DNA. This not only embodies the positive, charismatic MINI aura, but ensures your new all-electric vehicle looks – and sounds – unmistakably MINI.

ICONIC EARCONS OR EARCONIC ICONS?

There are around 30 new sounds for the new electric MINI family. These activating earcons serve as distinctive audible signals that alert drivers to certain events or information. From turn indicators and seat-belt warnings to Park Distance Control, they enable drivers to interpret a situation and react instinctively. They also add more than a touch of creativity to the interior ambience.

THE SOUND OF SILENCE.

As electric vehicles are much quieter than those with combustion engines, they’re required to emit a warning noise when travelling under 30 km/h. We used this as an opportunity to create a distinctly MINI soundscape to confirm your car’s identity from the outside while providing acoustic protection for pedestrians and cyclists.

MINI EXPERIENCE MODE SOUNDSCAPES.

New sounds are also an integral part of the digital experience. The MINI Experience Modes feature individually curated driving sounds that are audible in the interior of the new all-electric MINI models. These feedback acoustically to the driver during acceleration and convey an authentic impression of the driving situation.

CORE MODE.

The MINI "Core" mode is the default driving sound and can be heard both inside and outside. It is inviting, inspiring, and radiates warmth and energy.

GO-KART MODE.

The "Go-Kart" mode sound was created to enhance the sporty driving experience with pronounced pitch and load curves providing the perfect backdrop for dynamic driving.

TIMELESS MODE.

The "Timeless" mode soundscape takes you on an acoustic journey through time. The more intensively you accelerate, the more it morphs from the petrol-powered past to the purely electric present.

"Balance" gives a sense of relaxation and well-being. From the trickling of a stream to the rustling of treetops in the wind, you enjoy a soundscape inspired by the calming ambience of a forest at different times of the day.
