CIRCULARITY

RE:THINK, RE:DUCE, RE:USE, RE:CYCLE.

MINI Vehicle Footprint - Circular Economy

We adhere to these principles of circularity in order to conserve natural resources and retain high-quality materials in circulation over the long term. We therefore use secondary materials in new components. In addition, we are also increasing the recyclability of components through the design process and in product development.

At its start of production in 2023, the new MINI Countryman will contain approx. 19 % secondary raw materials. This value has been calculated on specific supplier records as well as on average industry values and includes production waste.

SECONDARY MATERIALS ARE TO BE FOUND IN A BROAD RANGE OF AREAS OF THE MINI COUNTRYMAN:

  • Wheels: approx. 70 % secondary aluminum
  • Plastic in the luggage compartment lining: approx. 95 %
  • Plastic in the luggage compartment shelf: approx. 75 %

Depending on the material, the use of secondary materials can make a major contribution to reducing the CO2e footprint. For instance, the use of secondary aluminum can reduce the CO2e footprint of a component by up to 20%.

RECYCLABILITY OF THE MINI COUNTRYMAN.

In accordance with legal requirements, up to 85% of the materials in the new MINI Countryman can be recycled, and a total of up to 95% can be reused. And, in accordance with current regulations, we also currently take back and recycle used vehicles at over 2,800 redemption points in 30 countries.
